Miscellaneous Information:

Communication is now a global enterprise which requires proficiency in multiple dimensions: text, photography, video, audio and graphic design. My job is to help students develop communication skills across all five of those dimensions. This is my 23rd year working for UCC where I teach courses in technical writing, media writing, journalism production and mass communication principles. I also serve joyfully as the student media adviser for The Mainstream which produces a print and online publication, a Facebook page, and a video channel.

By helping students develop software, presentation, and message construction skills, UCC’s Communication Studies and Journalism program prepares workers to reach and influence real audiences. Our Communication Studies or Journalism courses help students prepare for a transfer degree in Communication, Media Arts, Digital Arts, or Journalism. We also offer three certificates. Since all businesses need employees who can communicate well in writing, in media, and in speech, our courses provide professional development to improve employability no matter what career field students are considering! If you’re interested in any of our courses or programs, please contact me as I’d love to hear from you.
